Teaching With Paragon

So there I was, in dazzling Las Vegas with an esteemed and talented Emergency Nurse from St. Helena. We had worked together in the way-back years at Fresno's Level 1 Trauma Center, and this opportunity to hang out was not to be missed. We were attending a review course for the new Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) certification we planned on taking soon.  The course was taught by Paragon RN, our teacher Cheryl Randolph.

We loved the class, and the great food and sightseeing we got to do between the 2 days of class.  I was impressed by how fun the class was, and how much information I walked away with.  My buddy ended up passing her test about 5 months later, while I had decided instead to take another review course, this time for the Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) test.  Again, the content was engaging and directly related to patient care. We discussed when there was a discrepancy between the "test answer" and the real world, and related it all back to delivering the best care possible to patients.  I also saw how much fun it is to hang out with my "tribe". People who run into fires, or reach out and grab bloody limbs are a different kind of person.  And they are my kind of people.

During a break, I struck up a conversation with Cheryl and after a few questions, she started asking me questions. She asked about my experience, my goals, what I was about. She asked If I had ever considered teaching and I described the Emergency Lecture series I hosted at my home hospital and my passion for helping others grow.

We exchanged information, and over the next few months met and talked and she offered me a job to teach the CEN and TCRN classes. I have co-taught classes for a while and am starting to teach on my own. It has been a thrilling and terrifying adventure learning so much information and then learning how to deliver meaningful training. This incredible opportunity to grow as an educator and presenter is invaluable and i'm so excited to deliver great content.
