Amazing adaptation to open our perception.  The way we experience our environment is not the only way to understand the world.  By opening our imagination to ourselves, allowing for the possibility to see with our hands, hear with our skin, we can appreciate how constructed our reality is.  What you see before you is not the truth, it is the light reflected off objects and detected by your eyes.
